Volt & Ledger What an EV really costs, in dollars and carbon

Privacy policy

Last updated: October 1, 2026

The short version

Volt & Ledger doesn't collect personal information. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, no tracking pixels, and no cookies set by us. The calculators run entirely in your browser.

What our calculators do with your inputs

The numbers you enter (your car, state, mileage, electricity rate and preferences) stay in your browser. The pages load their reference data, such as EPA ratings and EIA prices, as files from this site, but nothing you type is sent to us or stored anywhere. Close the tab and it's gone. We can't see it.

Our web host

This site is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc. Like most web hosts, GitHub may record technical information when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, for security and to keep the service running. We don't receive or use that information. GitHub's handling of it is covered by the GitHub General Privacy Statement.

Fonts

Our typefaces load from Google Fonts. To deliver them, your browser contacts Google's servers, which receive your IP address and basic browser information. Google's practices are described in the Google Privacy Policy.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

We don't set cookies, run analytics, or show ads. Because we don't track you, there is nothing to opt out of, and we treat browser "Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control signals as already honored.

Affiliate links

We have none right now. If we add any, this policy will be updated first to explain what the retailer or network may record when you click.

If you contact us

Messages sent through the nexusEVnews contact page are used only to read and reply to you. We don't add you to a mailing list, and we don't sell, rent or share your message or address.

Selling or sharing personal information

We don't sell or share personal information, including as those terms are defined under California law (the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA), and we don't use personal information for targeted advertising or profiling.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, for example the European Union, the United Kingdom, California or another U.S. state with a privacy law, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, and not to be discriminated against for asking. The only personal information we could hold is a message you sent us. To make a request, contact us and we will respond within the time the law requires.

Children

This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If our practices change, for example if we add analytics or advertising, we'll update this page before the change goes live and revise the date at the top.
